If you are like most people chances are good that your morning begins with a piping hot cup of coffee? After all, it does give you that kick start you need to get in gear for the day.

However, would you be better served having a cup of tea?

In particular would you be better served having a cup of green tea?

Let’s examine some of the facts and figure out whether or not green tea products are better than coffee.

First, let’s examine the caffeine factor when it comes to green tea and coffee. The way that our bodies absorb caffeine is determined by the tannins in the product. When you drink coffee the tannins cause your body to absorb the caffeine very quickly causing a sudden jolt of energy.

This jolt can make you jittery and cause restlessness.

When you drink green tea products the tannins allow your body to absorb the caffeine slowly. This gives you a more evenly extended boost that lasts considerably longer. Plus, the boost you get from green tea won’t cause jitters or keep you awake at night.

Green tea products beat coffee in other ways as well. For instance, green tea has some of the most powerful antioxidants. These antioxidants can fight free radicals in the human body.

Free radicals are what cause the human body to age, and become ill. In fact, the ingredients in green tea have shown that they can fight heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes and aging. That is just the tip of the iceberg, the health benefits of green tea are still being study.

While green tea products are being touted for their many health benefits, coffee is getting mixed reviews. Coffee does have antioxidants, but far less than green tea and less researched. Coffee may also prevent gallstones, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and it can lower your risk for colon and liver cancer.

However, alternate studies have also shown that coffee may increase cholesterol levels with regular consumption and increase one’s risk of developing osteoporosis.

Considering the fact that both coffee and green tea have positive health benefits you have to weigh the negative. The fact is, not much negative has been said about green tea consumption.

So, it is best in most cases to stick with green tea products over coffee.

There was a myth about green tea products that said there is no caffeine in green tea products, but the truth is that green tea products have caffeine in them.

It is a myth that green tea is caffeine free, a cup of green tea has at least one-third less caffeine than the same cup of coffee.But the caffeine found in green tea is not as harmful as the caffeine found in the coffee products that is because in the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) you can find two very strong antioxidants, the Catechins and Epigallocatechins.

Those two antioxidants have anti-carcinogenic properties, and they are limiting the production of caffeine.

There is another myth about the magic of green tea products with everything that has to do with overweight problems, many people think that drinking a cup of green tea every day will resolve their weight problem, that is just not true.
